Dates of Employment
All first year staff are required to attend Staff Orientation week, which begins June 19, 2010, and ends on June 26, 2010. Our camp program lasts 8 weeks with the first campers arriving on June 27, 2010. Depending on qualifications and availability of positions, some staff work beyond the regular camp season during Specialty Week (specialty camps offered to campers include water sports and horseback riding) and Mini Camp. Dates of employment will be determined during the interview and hiring process. To qualify for a counseling position, you must commit to work for at least 9 weeks. Salary
Paychecks are distributed to employees every two weeks on Saturday at 5:00 PM. Salary for first year counselors is $275 per week. Other benefits provided by the camp include room and board and laundry service. Employees who are certified lifeguards (Red Cross, YMCA, etc.) earn an additional $20 per week. Those with other relevant degrees (bachelors, masters, teaching credential, etc.) can earn an additional $10-20 or more per week, depending on experience. A completion bonus of $200 and any travel stipends are added to the final paycheck of all first-year counselors completing their expected work dates. Should you, for some reason, not work through your anticipated date of departure, you will not receive the bonus and your travel stipend will be adjusted at the discretion of the directors. Travel stipends vary from $50-300, depending on the travel distance from camp, and are negotiated prior to employment.
