Meet Our Staff

Whether they are working on our waterfront, as a group counselor, or part of our support team, each Gold Arrow Camp staff members plays an integral part in providing the best experience possible for our campers. These caring, responsible, and fun individuals are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people. Our staff members not only represent several states across the U.S. but countries around the world as well. For 75 years, the Gold Arrow Camp staff have helped to provide a lifetime of memories for four generations of campers. Please read on to learn more about this year's amazing staff members!

	Ajax Year at GAC: 2nd Position: Waterfront Counselor Hometown: Melbourne, Australia School: Swinburne University, International Finance Major Hobbies: most things outside.....boating, waterskiing, fishing, footy (the Australian Version) and traveling! What I am looking forward to the most: Catching up with old faces, and meeting fresh ones. And rocking out to the best of the 80's on the Pontoon Boat

	Arrow Year at GAC: THIRD! Position: Wrangler. Hometown: Minneapolis, Minnesota. [Yeah, sure - you betcha!] School: Gustavus Adolphus College Hobbies: Galavanting about on horseback. Knitting half of a scarf. Making casserole. Playing sonnets on my clarinet. Giving juice to a really big moose. Singing, especially about umbrellas. Galavanting about on horseback while knitting half a scarf. Eating a casserole under a singing umbrella with a really big moose who happens to be drinking juice. You know, the usual. Looking forward to most: First and foremost, being confused with the lovely twin sister - Jobie! And then, singing The Moose Song and Dum Dum Da Da. Oh, and you know those large, four legged animals standing by the fence? Yeah. Those. I love 'em! And of course, meeting you. And you. And you! And you over there!

	Astro Year at GAC: 1st Position: Group Counselor Hometown: Fresno, CA School Attending: University of Portland, OR Major: Nursing and Biology Hobbies: taking pictures, cooking, dancing, swim, tubing, and snowboarding What I am looking forward to the most: Meeting the campers, campfires, and jumping into the lake!

	AZ Year at GAC: 5th Position: Head Counelor Hometown: Port Melbourne in...........Melbourne! Real World Job: Talking about camp to the general public. Yep I am in Marketing for the summer camp experince.......the "summer of your life!" School: The School of Life. 23 countries have given me all the education I can handle for quite some time yet! Hobbies: Get me to the water! Skiing, wakeboarding and swimming anything really goes there. I do enjoy the odd trot on horseback and come winter am a keen skiier. Add to that the Crochet fun club, SCUBAing and running and you've got me all wrapped up. I am a Sydney Swans fan when it comes to the AFL and a Minnesota Gofers fan when it comes to any American collage spot. Golden Gophers all the way! Looking forward to most: The buzz, the vibe, the crowd. It all happens at GAC and that is where you want to be in 2008! It's going to be another AMAZING summer.

	Bartók First Year at Camp Position: Backpacking and Dayhikes School: UC Davis, Graduate 08' Hometown: San Francisco, California Playing Guitar, composing, poetry and reading, jogging, biking, movies, travel, backpacking and hiking What I most look forward to: Air that is good for me, and being no place I'd rather be, with awesome kids.

	Blinky Year at GAC: 3rd Position at camp: Group Counselor School: Graduated from UC San Diego "Real world" job: Pre-Kindergarten Teacher Hometown: Sacramento, CA Hobbies: Reading, painting, camping, spending time with friends and family Looking forward to most: Returning to GAC after a 6 year absence! Meeting lots of new campers and staff, re-learning all the great camp songs, seeing beautiful Huntington and Shaver Lakes, and eating Goldie's desserts!

	Boxy Year at GAC: 2nd Position: Rocks and Ropes/Arts and Crafts Hometown: Erie, PA School: The College of Wooster Hobbies: Ultimate Frisbee, art, soccer, camping/the outdoors, jamming on the drums, traveling, Looking forward to most: Returning to the wilderness to be in a fantastic environment, teach the kids something new, and to have the time of my life with some great people.

	Cairo Year at camp: 1st! Position: Arts and Crafts Hometown: Columbus, Ohio School: Ohio State University Major: International Studies: Development Minor: Korean Hobbies: photography, painting, listening to music, taking polariod pictures, doodling, reading when i have time, running, star-gazing, rugby, ice skating, traveling and adventures. Looking Forward To the Most: meeting everyone and being in a California

	Care Bear Year at GAC: 14th (2nd year staff) Position: photographer/girls counselor School: Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising Major: Visual Communications Hometown: Irvine, CA Hobbies: swing dancing, performing, other ballroom dances, jazz, tap, photography, cosmetology, adventures, live music, sewing, thrift and discount shopping, trend setting, watching home improvement shows on tv, appreciating the beauty of classic cars, and always enjoying the out doors. Looking forward to most: waking up for early morning wakeboarding at shaver, living in the most beautiful place with the most talented kids and staff, then cooking popcorn over a campfire. I love camp…and you will too. smile for the camera!

	Chaco Years at GAC: 1st Year Position: Backpacking/day hikes counselor Hometown: Denver, CO School: University of Denver, majoring in psychology Hobbies: hiking, rock climbing, being outside, acting, guitar, snowboarding and snowshoeing What I am looking forward to the most: Meeting new people and enjoying being outside in a pristine environment.

	Chaos Year at camp: 6, 3rd as a counselor Position: Group Counselor Hometown: San Francisco School: Colorado College; Sociology/Int'l affairs with African Studies Hobbies: Traveling, backpacking, wakeboarding, the outdoors, snowboarding and running What I'm Looking Forward to Most: Spending another amazing summer on Huntington Lake, teaching/singing camp songs, spending time with all the new and old campers and counselors, and of course the camp dances!

	Cheeks Year at Camp: 2nd Position: Kayaking & Canoeing Counselor Hometown: Auckland, New Zealand School: University of Auckland Hobbies: Kayaking, hiking, football, rugby, cricket, traveling, backpacking, all things Italian and.... 	Cheerio Year at GAC: 1st Position: Group Counselor Hometown: Noblesville, IN School: Purdue University - Boiler Up! Hobbies: Running, Photography, Scrapbooking, Watching sports (especially baseball!), Watching 80's movies and Jammin' to 80's music! Looking Forward To Most: Having a BLAST with campers and other counselors in the great outdoors ALL SUMMER!

	Chilli Year at GAC: 2nd Hometown: Manchester, England School: Bangor University, studying Marine Biology Hobbies: I love sailing and water based activities in general. Having adventures and anything that will get my adrenaline pumping. I love traveling to new places and meeting new people. Most looking forward to: Spending another summer teaching people to sail, Dancing at morning assembly! Seeing old faces and meeting loads of new ones. Goldies cookies and toasting marshmallows. Most of all just waking up every morning excited for the day.

	Crew Year at camp: First Position at camp: Mountain Biking Counselor School: University at Buffalo '08 Hometown: Buffalo, NY Hobbies: Biking, hiking, climbing, listening to music, spending time with friends, and going on long drives through the country. What I look forward to most this summer: Meeting lots of new people and spending time in the great outdoors in one of the most beautiful areas of the country!

	Croissant Year at GAC: 1st year! Position at GAC: Counselor Hometown: West Bloomfield, MI School: University of Michigan, School of Education Hobbies: running in short shorts, singing in the shower and car, piano, guitar, ukelele, tambourine, looking in my fridge, laying on the air conditioning vent, writing rhymes, making smores, campfire friendship circles, eating, listening to my heart, opening new peanut butter jars, and laughing. What am I looking forward to the most: Meeting new friends, making the kids laugh, trying new things, and going to a state that is warm :)

	Ginger Position: Horse Director, Co- CIT Director Year at Camp: 7th Hobbies: anything outdoors, singing loudly, laughing, people with a sense of adventure, skiing, horseback riding, taking pictures, walking on the beach, dancing, making buttons with TQOE, playing snaps. Looking forward to: Everything about camp!..Being back in the mountains, climbing the Face, the camp dances, having another summer full of memories with amazing campers and staff.

	Glitter Year at GAC: 8 Position: Office Manager/Camp Registrar Hometown: Shaver Lake, CA Hobbies: Skiing, knitting, playing with my future nieces and nephews, reading, running/going to the gym, playing Wii, and spending time with my family and friends. What I look forward to most: I can't wait to spend another summer meeting and getting to know all the new campers and staff as well as catching up with the returners. Oh and of course Goldie's cookies!

	Goldie Year at GAC: 10th Position: Cook Hometown: Victoria, Australia & Lakeshore, CA Real World Job: Gold Arrow is my real world! Hobbies: Shopping! Snow shoeing Looking forward to most: Meeting new faces from great places around the world.

	Granola Year at GAC: first Position at camp: dayhiking/backpacking counselor School: University of Puget Sound Hometown: Corte Madera, California Hobbies: singing, beading, yoga, cruising on my bike, live music, eating, saving the world, loving the great outdoors What I look forward to most this summer: being cut off from the crazy world of computers, cell phones, and 12 page papers, meeting new people, sleeping under the stars, breathing fresh air, swimming in cold clean lake water, and being in the Sierras.

	Ham Year at GAC: 3rd Positon: Boys Group Counselor Hometown: San Jose, California School: Azusa Pacific University Hobbies: Baseball, football, waterskiing, tubing, going to the beach, music, and roller hockey. Looking forward to: Meeting all sorts of new people from all over the place. Making a bunch of new friends and having the greatest summer of my life.

	Hat Trick Year at Camp: First Year Position: Group Counselor School: Northern Arizona University Hometown: Orange County, California Hobbies: Playing soccer, which is where my nickname originated from, running, reading, listening to music, hanging with my friends, traveling, taking pictures. What I am looking forward to this summer: I am very excited about this great opportunity. I am a health science major with an emphasis on education. I love working with children as well as love being outdoors. I believe this experience will be life changing and I am just very enthusiastic to have been hired for this job.

What I am looking forward to most: Peeling shoulders, smelling like camp fires, meeting new people, and creating crazy tan lines!

	Peanut Year at GAC: 3rd (2nd year staff) Position: Wrangler Hometown: Newbury Park, CA School: University of Montana, Missoula Hobbies: anything outside, horses, camp, food, being goofy, and more horses What I am looking forward to the most: Meeting new people, seeing old friends and having a great time at camp and not think about school!

	Piglet Year at camp: 1st Position: Wrangler Hometown: Jordan, Minnesota. Hobbies: Singing. Dancing. Attending theater. Participating in sports, especially tennis. Meditating. Riding horses. The outdoors. Hanging out with friends and family. Watching movies. Anything to do with animals. Working. Cooking. Really, I love to do almost anything! Looking forward to most: Spending the summer in California, and meeting a whole bunch of new people. Working with children. Working with horses. Being outside, away from the big city. And making memories to last a lifetime!

	Popeye Year at GAC: 1st / GAC Fresher Position: Sailing Counselor Hometown: South London, England School: Sheffield University, BA History Hobbies: Eating spinach, not using can openers, hanging out with Olive, and crime-busting. Also, anything involving water, possibly every sport which involves a bat or ball, friends, family, traveling. What I am looking forward to the most: Camp life and meeting everyone, teaching brand new sailors how to sail, dancing / singing badly.

	Puma Year at GAC: 1st Position: Rocks and Ropes Hometown: Buffalo, NY School: Rochester Institute of Technology Hobbies: Climbing, Ultimate Frisbee, Reading, Cycling, basically anything outdoors Looking forward to most: Spending the summer in the beautiful mountains and teaching campers how to play on the rock.

	Q Year @ camp: 3rd Hometown: Fort Thomas Kentucky School/Occupation: Eastern Kentucky University ’05, environmental consultant Hobbies: traveling, hiking, exotic food, running, music, swimming, skiing, reading, spending time with good friends, and (of course) camp Looking forward to this summer: Fresh air, warm sunshine, great kids, great staff, campfires, and COLD water!

	Ram Year at GAC: 11th School: San Diego State University Majoring in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design Hometown: Carlsbad, CA Hobbies: Art, Graphic Design, Film production, web design, anything to do with computers, and believe it or not going to the gym. Looking forward to most: Seeing everybody that I have met through the years, The delicious meals that Sushi makes with the great cookies that Goldie bakes. 	Rim Year at GAC: 7th Position: Camp Nurse session 1 School: Fond Memory...Cal State Long Beach Real Life Job: ER Nurse, UC Davis Medical Center Hometown: Pollock Pines, CA Hobbies: Sewing, crocheting, quilting, reading, tormenting my kids, holding my granddaughter & computer games. Looking forward to most: See how all the returning campers have grown and changed in 1 year, trying to learn everyone's names and faces in 2 weeks, Sushi's fabulous cooking and Goldie's wonderful baking, and Beans annual ladies of the lake pontoon boat excursion.
